I am missing Cincinnati

I am missing Cincinnati

Today, I had two reasons to miss Cincinnati:

#1: My hairstylist, Kenji at Tanya's Salon in Hyde Park. He was quite the cool guy, knew how to cut Asian hair (yes, I've had stylists complain to me about how hard it is to cut my hair), and gave the most relaxing scalp and face massage. I felt really pampered after each visit, and at $33 per visit, a pretty good value I felt.

So today I went to a place called Sport Clips. The design theme is "men's locker room." I mean, the cupboards where the staff get their combs, towels, etc. are gym lockers. The cashier is in a chain link pen. When they cut your hair, they make sure to angle you towards the TV playing ESPN.

It's $18 for a cut only, and $24 for cut, shampoo, massage, and hot towel (which Kenji would apply after exfoliating but before my favorite moment of all: the herbal toner spray). I liked my stylist and my cut, but for basically a Sporty SuperCuts, I didn't think it was a great value.

#2: Lifeway Kefir at Costco. The Costco in San Diego is, I believe, the granddaddy of all warehouse stores around the world. So, I was not only surprised that they didn't carry Lifeway Kefir like my Costco in Mason, but the staff had not even heard of kefir! Isn't this California?!

Seriously, kefir basically tastes like a lassi, and is full of healthful probiotics. Not only that, the Lifeway Kefir that I found at the Mason Costco was lowfat, single-serve, and came in great flavors like pomegranate. And just the sort of thing I would hope Costco would have, since it's sort of pricey to buy individually. And the sort of thing that makes me feel, "Costco really anticipates what I want."

Off to see the world!
