Rua Oscar Freire
Today I saw a very different kind of built environment compared to the concrete Avenida Paulista. The shopping street of Rua Oscar Freire is in the Jardins neighborhood, and is often compared to Rodeo Drive in LA, and Newbury St in Boston. Here, it seems like every store wanted to create the most artificial, non-natural environment, with the challenge of not using any concrete like Av. Paulista a few blocks away.
This is Galeria Melissa, a shoe store designed by Karim Rashid.
This was a very mysterious facade - the only door I saw was just spray-painted with a number.

Even American Apparel looks spiffy, in contrast to the drab storefronts I see in North America.
