Sign Language: Warning signs in Turkey
Throughout my two weeks in Turkey, I've gotten the feeling that Turkish people have a perpetual twinkle in their eye. At least when they're talking to me. Maybe they're laughing at me inside...
But in any case, this undercurrent of humor translates to their warning signs, which have an amazing diversity of designs.
This skull and bones is positively smiling at the thought of electrocution. (Topkapi Palace)
This one is really proud of its pearly whites. Also note how the bones are replaced by electricity bolts. (Ephesus)
The shock must have caused this one to lose its teeth. (Ephesus)
Finally, a despondent skull. Wouldn't you be too? (Ferry docks, Eminönü)
