Trip report: Pamukkale to Istanbul by bus
This was no Super Cama service on Via Bariloche (Argentina), but bus travel in Turkey is still a step above what we're used to in the US, and even a bit better than a domestic flight. My tour group took the Pamukkale bus company from Pamukkale back to Istanbul, a 10 hour overnight trip.
The seats were nicer than regular airline economy class seats, with better recline and cradling headrests.
Unlike in Argentina where the attendant served everyone dinner and breakfast by hand, on this bus a tiny cart magically popped out of nowhere! We got our choice of snacks (packaged crackers, cookies, cake), and beverages.
Apparently there were more than one snack services, but I actually slept a good 7 hours on this bus (with some brief moments of waking up in the middle).
Of note, there were no bathrooms on this bus, and so we made frequent stops not only to pick up and drop off passengers, but also to use the toilet (always very clean and odor-free). At the same time, the bus itself would get a thorough wash. This was one of the most interesting aspects of bus travel down the western coast and then back up - the cleanliness of the bus was always kept up with a top to bottom wash at least daily!
