Cravings
Sometimes I get cravings for the most random things from America. A while ago it was Mexican food (any kind) so I made burritos, and this week it was barbecue chicken pizza. Mexican food is understandable, since I had it all the time back home, but barbecue chicken pizza? I had it maybe like once a year at Dewey's Pizza.
Nevertheless, I endeavored to satisfy my craving. I made a barley and corn meal crust from my King Arthur Flour cookbook (I like their "Now or Later Pizza" dough recipe better - the one I made for my pizza party last year, the barley one was too wet and soggy). Then I made a barbecue sauce, using liquid smoke for the first time! Oh, that was grammatically confusing... To clarify, I made barbecue sauce for the first time, AND used liquid smoke for the first time. I put some sauteed chicken on top, and a cheese blend dominated by cheddar, and a sprinkling of green onions.
Too bad I don't have a picture to show. I think the reason I didn't think to take a picture is because I was seriously melting by the time the pizza was ready. See, the weather is SO hot right now, above 30 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit), and there's no air conditioning in my apartment. And no bug screen on the door to the balcony, so no open door either. And my whole living space is basically one big kitchen where I also work and sleep. So when I turn up my oven to 260 degrees Celsius (500 degrees Fahrenheit), the whole room turns into even more of a sauna.
Well, here's a picture of a chicken, tomato, mozzarella, basil, and homemade pesto which I also made.
