Frisby: Glove-covered finger lickin' good!
With an evening arrival into Bogotá, I wanted to have dinner before going to bed. I wasn't sure about the restaurant situation around the Aloft Bogotá Airport hotel where I was staying, since I had read that it was situated in an office park, so I decided to pick up some food at the mezzanine land-side foodcourt at Bogotá airport.
There were quite a few choices! There was McDonald's, El Corral, a Colombian hamburger chain, "K-Teppanyaki,"... and Frisby. Frisby is also a Colombian chain, specializing in fried chicken. I'd read lots of reports of Colombians overseas who crave Frisby, so I really wanted to give it a try!
Already in the picture above, you can see some of the people eating at the counter wearing plastic gloves. I know it's not very environmentally friendly, but I actually love this practice. One of my pet peeves is having greasy or sticky hands, and this avoids that. Some people say, "you can just wash your hands," but the thing is, if I pick up some chicken and eat a part of it, I don't want to leave the table to wash my hands before picking up the fork to eat some salad, before eating more chicken.
I ordered the "Combo 3," which included two pieces of chicken, salad, beans (with pork), rice, two mini arepas, and a drink.
I've got to hand it to the Frisby staff - they plated the meal exactly as it appears on the website!
Yes, it was fast food takeaway, but it was quite delicious. The chicken was flavorful without being too salty, and the beans were particularly rich and flavorful. Here I am wearing my plastic gloves!
