Lockdown Day 14: Another two-test day, and a quick night-time exchange
I have so many oranges now (at one point I think I had 22 oranges) that I just had two oranges for breakfast. I’m afraid they’ll go bad before I have a chance to eat them! They’re all pretty good too.
Shortly after breakfast, the entryway leader sent an audio message telling us that we needed to do an antigen test this morning (and to send a picture of the result to the group chat), and then a PCR test in the afternoon. So it was time to break out the bulk box of 25 tests.
Lunch was much the same as yesterday, with the last of my tortilla de patatas (sniff - it was so good!), the coleslaw, and instead of tuna salad on toast, I put slices of parmesan on the toast. I love this grazing type of meal, where there isn’t really a main course but a few different things to munch on!
Today wasn’t really rainy, but when I went out for the PCR test it just started to drizzle.
So many 大白 Baymaxes, but on their phones?
I was very indecisive about what to do for dinner. I keep feeling really a lot of pressure to clear things out in the fridge, so I made a combination of things. I reheated my leftover rice with celtuce leaves 莴笋叶菜饭, and stir-fried the 鸡毛菜 chicken feather bok choy with some mushrooms (using only soy sauce as seasoning, because I’m running low on salt!), and garlic, tomato, and egg scramble. I do feel that with all of the vegetables that have been given to me, my new highly vegetable-forward diet is very healthy!
I finished off dinner with some oranges.
Tonight we were given a little bottle (900 ml) of sunflower seed oil! They’re really taking care of our daily necessities. I still have a lot of olive oil (in my huge Kirkland Signature bottle), but it’s nice to have a more neutral and high-temperature oil around.
Tonight, I also got a message that the guy from San Diego who gave out free avocados was looking to buy fruit, and wanted to see if people were interested in doing a group buy. I private messaged him, and told him I could just give him some of my fruit. I prepared a bag with two oranges from my company package, one orange and two pears from my fruit pack, and an apple from my friend who lives on the other side of the building.
We arranged to meet in 10 minutes. I waited as long as I could in my apartment, until the meeting time, because I think we’re still not really supposed to be outside of our door.
I then waited inside of my building’s exterior door until I saw him come up. It felt like an illicit handoff taking place … and maybe it was!
I told him I didn’t want anything in exchange, but he insisted that I take some of his bananas since he just got a lot.
I really do appreciate getting to know my neighbors through this lockdown, and how we are supporting each other!
