Lockdown Day 48: Two fish pastas in 10 hours, and THREE COVID tests in 6 hours!
For breakfast today, I tried the yogurt my friend gave me - grape flavor with jasmine flavored popping boba (I think?!), along with half of a sweet potato and coffee.
For lunch, I took out a pre-prepared tomato, olive, onion-carrot-celery, and tuna pasta sauce, boiled some spiral pasta, and topped it all with parmesan cheese … and carrot leaves. They make the prettiest, most delicate garnish!
Followed up with my fruit of the day, a mandarin orange.
We knew that we would be testing today, because we were given a special brand of antigen test last night. Here’s the guy in the hazmat suit checking our antigen tests and collecting them in the yellow biohazard waste bag.
Then a worker checked our names off of a paper list, our health codes were scanned, and it was back to doing oral PCR tests, after a record 5-day break.
I got my PCR test at 5:40pm, which meant that, yup, immediately I had to do the 6pm antigen test. Makes so much sense.
After work, I was a bit hungry, so the seaweed (and tiny fish!) peanuts that were delivered yesterday came in really handy.
I did my workout of the day (overall strength), and then made dinner. Originally, I was going to have dumplings, but then I thought that maybe after the strength workout, I would want more protein. So I pan-fried a piece of cod straight from the freezer, then I took a bit of marinara sauce and heated it with red pepper flakes and marinated artichokes. And I mixed the pasta sauce with the fresh 阳春面 noodles I had frozen. And once again I garnished with some carrot leaves!
I had the remaining date zongzi 粽子 for “dessert,” though again, it was barely sweet.
During my workout, entryway leader came by and delivered two boxes of the special brand of antigen tests. I double checked: yup, the two tests on the left are for tonight’s midnight antigen test, and tomorrow’s midnight antigen test. For tomorrow’s 6pm antigen test, we could use any other brand we had. For me, that’s one of the tests on the right, from the box of 25. Long ago the logic already flew out the window.
