Lockdown Day 54: Magical green beans
Breakfast was rice and lentil congee, seasoned with soy sauce and oyster sauce (hence why it’s so dark!). I think I put in too much, because I’d rather add in other toppings for flavor.
PCR test this morning. I wonder why the guy scanning the health codes is wearing a helmet?
Today I was the holder of the vial. I think we still did mixed tube testing, so the people behind me had their swabs put into the same vial.
Lunch was the little picnic I made on Sunday, with the components of tortilla, grated tomato, garbanzos con espinacas, toast, and this time I also added the big red sausage.
I made a little tapa with the toast topped with the sausage, tortilla, and grated tomato.
Today I did the afternoon test a bit late - should be before 6pm but I submitted my picture around 6:30pm. Still, I avoided being called out by entryway leader!
In the afternoon, we got a delivery, but I didn’t get around to opening the box until this evening.
I was quite happy with this box! I had just been wishing for green beans. I had almost all of the ingredients for paella valenciana, but was going to make a chicken and mushroom one because I didn’t have green beans. I thought, I’ll just put the chicken in the freezer and see if green beans might magically appear in my life this week. And they did!
I’m also quite excited by the eggplant, and also the green peppers - this is the first time getting green peppers in the government deliveries! There were lots of leafy green s this time along with a big head of cabbage and Napa cabbage (there’s really a never-ending supply of these), And we got so many heads of garlic and pieces of ginger.
To top it off (literally, they were on top of the box), we got mung beans and surgical masks.
I appreciated getting all of this food, but i did have that sinking feeling that I wouldn’t have enough space in my fridge for everything. I combined some leftovers in the same container, did some rearranging…
…and I only had to store the cabbage outside of the fridge.
Today was a pretty long work day. We took a break around 7pm, which is when I had time to open up my government delivery box and put it away, and I just had enough time for a delicious snack of juicy lychee!
After work finally ended, I could sit down to a bigger dinner: red lentil soup and toast topped with buffalo chicken-spinach-artichoke spread. A very satisfying meal.
And of course I did my midnight antigen test. Since this is from the new box of antigen tests that entryway leader gave me, and not that one particular brand to be used before PCR tests, I suppose we won’t have to do PCRs tomorrow?
