McDecor: I-10 West
I'm currently going across the USA on a 3-week roadtrip with my sister and the Prius. This blog is about food, design, and the sense of place in each region, state, city, and restaurant I visit.
One of the realities of road tripping is stopping along the roadside for snacks, meals, and as we called it in corporate America, "bio-breaks." My go-to place is the trusty McDonald's - I know I like the food, and the restrooms are clean. So far, I've learned that far from being cookie-cutter, the decor in each McDonald's can be quite unique!
In Baldwin, FL, the McDonald's was super contemporary, with sage greens and pumpkin oranges, glass mosaics, and abstract photography. Even the staff looked extra crisp in their uniforms.
In Hempstead, TX, the chairs were Emeco Navy chairs, which you can buy from Design Within Reach for $415 each.
In Elgin, TX, state pride was expressed inside the restroom. Don't mess with Texas!
