Wildlife at Iguazu Falls Part 1: Birds
I think one of the most fun parts of Iguazu Falls is seeing all of the wildlife here! And some of my favorite spottings are of birds. I'm no bird watcher, so these are very common birds to see just walking along paved paths. I found a birder's trip report talking about all of the different birds you can see, for those interested.
You'll see a lot of these Black Vultures circling high above the falls. This one was perched just above one of the paths on Isla San Martin.
These Plush-Crested Jays are beautiful, with a rich dark blue top and a cream colored bottom. They also sport afros, hence the plush-crested name. They're also really amusing, because they aren't afraid of people at all, and often hang out in groups.
This is the Southern Lapwing, called Tero in these here parts. It's the national bird of Uruguay, and apparently very aggressive.
This is a Field Flicker, which I saw on my hotel's front lawn!
