Montreal Eats: Le Fromentier bakery
Le Fromentier has been a highly recommended bakery. It has a special feel because you descend a few steps into a partially subterranean space.
I came later in the day, so I guess the goods were not as fresh (even though it seems they still were pulling things out of the oven). My almond croissant was hard and brittle.
I did like how the almond filling wasn't as sweet as American versions. The croissant was sliced open and spread with the filling.
My elephant's ears on the other hand was excellent. True butter flavor and tons of flakes as my peacoat bore evidence.
