SF Food Trucks: Architect's Kitchen
I've become a bit skeptical about the new-wave food trucks. In my experience, they've had subpar food at high prices (see my review of banh mi here). But I was on my way to the main library and wanted to get lunch. I decided to stop by the ArKi truck, aka Architect's Kitchen, for their signature dish, fried chicken and donuts. I guess it's a twist on fried chicken and waffles.
Both were excellent. The fried chicken was super moist and juicy on the inside, encased in a shell of well seasoned (but not to salty) crust. The donuts are unlike any I've had before. They aren't the cakey kind, but they're not super fluffy either. They're like a denser version of fluffy yeasted donuts, and each bite was very rich. They squirt on a sugar glaze as each order goes out, and the glaze is not too sweet.
I highly recommend ArKi truck. I thought this $8.50 was a good price for this meal, and would seek out the truck just to have the meal again! (Note that the Thai Iced Tea, very generic, is not included. I bought it from a Thai truck whose name I've forgotten.)
