Trip Report: VLC to FRA in Lufthansa Business
Going back to California this time, I found a great fare departing from Oslo - only US$539 to San Diego! I just needed to buy a separate ticket from Valencia to Oslo, and for the outbound I selected business class, because with the 2x PQMs, that would put me just over the top to requalify for MileagePlus Premier Gold Status.
The day started out so smoothly, with sunny skies over the Mediterranean.
A cold meal was served. I really like that even with a cold meal on a flight of around 2 hours, Lufthansa manages to make it special.
There was air-dried beef with a slaw underneath.
Some cheese with a sweet mustard.
Some smoked cod?
And an apple crumble.
Lunch finished off with chocolates and coffee.
The pilot announced that we would have a view of the Matterhorn here. I guess I don't know my Swiss Alps well enough, but I'm not sure where it is, or if I was even successful in taking a picture of it! In any case, it's always a thrill to me to see the Alps, and I always pass it to and from Valencia, whether the flight is to Zurich or Frankfurt.
Here's our A320 parked at the gate. Looking behind, I think that was United's 777-300ER that would later leave for San Francisco. Oh how I wish I could have been on that flight, knowing what would come ahead... Read on to hear about my travel nightmare!
