A cut above the domestic competition
Hi there! Pickle Deli Square is a collection of my experiences living, eating, and traveling the world. Currently an expat based in Valencia, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain.

A cut above the domestic competition
A good Priority Pass lounge with a strange layout
A pleasant flight with some interesting non-alcoholic drinks and many desserts.
If I’m comparing Air China (HRB-PVG) vs. China Southern (PVG-HRB), I’d say China Southern wins hands-down.
Clearly superior service as compared to my Air China flight a couple days later in the opposite direction. Tried both of the hot main course options on this 2.5 hour “snack” service!
My favorite: upper deck window with side storage bins!
First time in this Polaris lounge - a mini version of SFO’s. With the most amazing pecan pie and apple pie trifles for the holidays.
First time with meal pre-order.
Still one of the nicest lounges I’ve ever been in.
Amazingly, I could “just walk in” to Pudong Airport. No more PCR tests or scanning codes. What didn’t change from previous years was the menu on the flight. In fact, the Polaris pre-arrival meal was the same as my pre-arrival meal in Economy 3 years ago.
A perfect (for me) itinerary
A full day in the +7 quarantine hotel, and then back home.
Hopefully, the last full day in quarantine.
If only they had a printed menu…
The day started with breakfast filled with cute shapes, and ended with a dinner full of longtime favorites.
A good food day, started off by the fun breakfast “formula.”
Yay for fresh food deliveries!
