Trip Report: United Airlines SAN-ORD First Class Boeing 737
I got to San Diego airport pretty close to departure time, and the line through security was quite long (I think I went into the “priority” line by mistake, which was not Pre-Check). Still, I had time to drop by the United Club on the way to the gate, where I had an overnight oats parfait with blueberries. Very nice!
The aircraft from San Diego (SAN) to Chicago (ORD) was a Boeing 737. I feel like flying domestically has gotten a bit dull in recent years, with every airplane being a 737. I can’t really even say for sure if this was an -800 or -900 (I don’t think it was a MAX…). I especially miss the 757s, with the larger first class cabin where you turned left after the boarding door.
By the time we took off, it was daylight.
This was my first time being able to pre-order a menu on United. It’s been around for a few years I believe, but only on domestic narrow-body flights, and my flying has been mainly international. I was impressed by the number of choices! I went with the Green chili frittata, since I like Mexican/southwestern flavors. Note that there is another “Breakfast frittata.”
The frittata came out looking much like the picture, including the four cherry tomatoes. It was swimming in the green chili sauce which wasn’t very spicy, and a bit salty.
The fruit was quite good.
The meal was served with blueberry Chobani, which I really like. I did miss some sort of carbohydrate like a bread, to mop up all of the nice green chili sauce pooled at bottom of the dish, with the melted queso fresco. My seatmate got the “Breakfast frittata” which came with a lot of potatoes and spinach. It looked quite filling; I think I’ll get it next time.
We had beautiful views, as usual, flying over the mountain states!
I hadn’t flown through Chicago O’Hare in a while, and was impressed by these monitors stationed by each gate. As you’re exiting from the plane, it shows you all of the information you need, including which direction to walk for baggage claim (and the baggage claim carousel number), restrooms, and connecting gate information.
Then on the flip side, there’s all of the pertinent information for the departing flight.
Now onto the ORD Polaris lounge!
