Trip Report: Lufthansa Senator Lounge FRA (Schengen zone) and Lufthansa FRA-VLC Business Class Airbus A320
After landing and going through passport control, I ended up at the FRA Senator Lounge (the Schengen zone one, for European flights). I’ve spent many a layover here, and it felt really nice to be back.
First things first, a hot shower after the overnight flight. This is the best luxury!
Then onto the food. They had their typically varied selection of cakes.
Cold cuts and spreads.
I took a seat in my favorite section, along the banquet facing towards the windows with a table for dining and views towards the planes.
Really craving savory food after the sweet breakfast, I had scrambled eggs topped with bacon and chives, an herbed cheese, what I think is tomato basil spread, two potato pancakes, and a kaiser roll.
I had a few of the holiday cookies too.
And a small slice of bundt cake.
Unfortunately we had to take a bus to the airplane.
Here’s the “business class” section. Really economy class, with middle seat free.
On this flight, I had my third breakfast of the day, after the pre-arrival breakfast on the ORD-FRA flight, and the lounge breakfast.
The breakfast was served covered.
There was in the upper left corner, a quark with red fruits compote, a cute little container with butter, sugar, creamer, and jam, and a main plate with a couple cheeses, a slice of smoked salmon, and a slice of what I think is beef. And some spread with parsley on top. They had a bread basket. All in all, a nice cold breakfast.
I was surprised when they came around with a tray of apples, each in this paper sleeve. I understand “Heimat” is a German feeling of “homeland” and “sense of belonging,” and I guess Lufthansa’s regional business class catering has this theme.
When I took the apple out of the sleeve, I was tickled to see that this sleeve was designed with another function: to hold the apple core after you’re done eating it.
Let’s give it a try…
… pretty good! Maybe if I had eaten it a bit more cleanly, the flap could have folded over more neatly.
Approaching the airport in VLC, we were rewarded with great views of the city. Sit on the right side of the plane for these great views! Here’s the City of Arts and Sciences.
And this is the very center of the city; you can see on the lower left side the Estacion Nord train station and adjacent circular bullfighting ring, and the Plaza Ayuntamiento just above these two.
It’s so great to be back!
