Trip Report BOS-SFO: United premium transcontinental Economy Plus

On my way back to San Francisco, there was, as expected, a breakfast service in Economy Plus. They offered a choice of French toast or eggs, and being a savory breakfast kind of person, I went for the eggs as usual. This is basically the exact breakfast that is served on California to Europe redeyes (one example here). So this “Tuscan Skillet” breakfast is one that I’ve had before. This one might have been reheated for a bit too long, but a few spoonfuls of that tomato juice helped make up for some of that dryness!

The tomato juice itself was quite filling, and in addition to the hot meal service in Economy Plus, they still serve the Maple Wafers that the rest of Economy gets too. These were nice and crispy, though the maple flavor was muted (as it should be, in my baking experience, if they’re using natural maple syrup).

Before landing, we got a blueberry vanilla and cashew Kind bar, which was a nice treat. I had just popped an Airborne tablet in my water, which is why it’s all bubbly.

So United’s Economy Plus service on BOS-SFO, EWR-SFO and EWR-LAX flights is quite decent. It’s like flying “back in the good old days!” And especially when you get a Boeing 757.
