CSA Box Makes: Cranberry Clafoutis
I'd made clafoutis successfully before; clafoutis is essentially a cake with a pancake-like batter. Very easy and fun, since you just pour in all of the ingredients and the (traditionally) cherries float to the top.
With the fresh box of cranberries, I decided to pack up the ingredients for a cranberry clafoutis (recipe from Mark Bittman here), to bring to San Diego for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, because I combined all of my dry ingredients into one bag, I had to mix extra hard to get everything mixed up in a single step. The result: chewy clafoutis, since the gluten overdeveloped. The texture was like nian gao, or rice-based Chinese New Year's cake. Oh well.
