Montreal Eats: Wawel Polish Patisserie
At Marche Jean-Talon I picked up a couple pastries from Wawel Polish Patisserie. I had both back at the hotel; the chestnut cake for an evening snack and the paczki filled donut as a midnight snack. I asked the shopkeeper what flavor paczki she recommended, and she said prune.
The chestnut cake was soggy by the time I had it, and the paczki was fine but not spectacular. Perhaps these would have been better eaten right away, or even closer to when they were made than when I purchased them.
