Trip Report: SFO-EWR-ZRH-VLC part I
There isn't much to report on my SFO-EWR flight, except that it was pretty much a full flight (maybe one seat open in Economy) and rather stuffy. But I slept through the first half of the flight (including the drink service) and the other half I watched The Avengers thanks to the video on demand system on this ex-Continental internationally configured Boeing 757-200.
After visiting the lounge in EWR, it was time to leave the US with a beautiful view of New York at night. The EWR-ZRH flight was operated by an ex-United Boeing 767-300 with United flight attendants.
There was first a drink service where the flight attendant offered the whole can.
Then a choice between chicken, and what was called "beef" on my side of the plane and "pasta" on the other. I would normally not go for the pasta, but the chicken I saw in the row in front looked like chopped chicken pieces, so I rolled the dice with the beef/pasta. Turned out to be penne with meatballs, and very little tomato sauce. The ex-Continental caterer I think is doing the catering for the new United, and they are really skimpy with sauce (this is not my first run-in). There was also an iceberg lettuce salad with cucumber slices and tomato with balsamic vinaigrette, a bagged roll, and a butterscotch chip brownie.
This flight was rather empty, and I managed to curl up in a fetal position across the two seats I had on my own. Breakfast was a croissant, and cut honeydew and cantaloupe. I find it interesting that real butter is served with breakfast, but only that flavored spread is served at dinner.
