Trip Report: SAN-ORD-FRA-VLC
Returning to Valencia on the latest possible itinerary routed me through ORD, where Lufthansa has late-night flights back to FRA and MUC.
New, fresh food in the ORD United Clubs!
Interestingly, different United Club locations at ORD seem to have slightly different selection. This second club had a wheat berry salad, as well as the bowl of Skittles which the first club didn't have.
First time flying on the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental.
Dinner on Lufthansa flight to FRA. Salad, chicken with red sauce and hand made noodles/dumplings? Crackers, cheese, roll, and a dome of chocolate mousse with white chocolate flakes.
Breakfast, was pretty simple: packaged blueberry muffin, fruit cup with strawberries, kiwi, watermelon, and Lorna Doone shortbread (kind of random). A bit too many sweet items for me. The photo of the watermelon printed on the box makes the breakfast snack appear more bountiful!
Lunch upon arrival in the FRA Senator Lounge - pea and ham soup, chicken hot dog, potato salad, asparagus salad, liver pate and kaiser roll.
Then the all important shower. My must-have after an overnight flight!
After the shower, they had these "tidbits filled with cherry" which I got just to try. Along with this yummy almond cake.
I left my bags in a locker at the Senator Lounge (I asked the attendant if I could leave it there, leave the lounge, and come back, and she said sure). You can find the lockers across from the service desk at the entrance to the lounge. Felt pretty secure because it closes with a key, and the lockers face the attendants.
Here is the old town of Frankfurt.
The very large Euro symbol. I think I've seen this a lot in the media, whenever someone is talking about the currency, or banking, or Europe in general.
Returned to the Senator Lounge for dinner. Pork goulash with small potatoes, more chicken hot dogs, potato salad, cauliflower and cucumber pickle.
Followed by dinner on the plane from FRA to VLC - half of a roast turkey sandwich. Other choice was cheese sandwich. By now I was completely stuffed!
