San Diego Eats: Shaved Ice at Iceskimo
Shaved ice has arrived in San Diego!
You select a flavor of ice which the staff prepares for you in a cup (so you can't load up on toppings with very little base, which is what I usually do in yogurt places!). They rotate cool flavors like jasmine milk tea, salted caramel, and matcha. I was excited to see black sesame, so of course I had to get that.
I loaded up on all of the different jelly-like toppings, like litchi jelly, almond jelly, grass jelly, aloe, and homemade mochi. The best was definitely the litchi jelly, aloe, and mochi. These are particularly heavy toppings, as opposed to something light like Oreo crumbs, so my small turned out to be over $6.
Still, I really enjoyed my shaved ice, and would return to try other flavors, and load up on toppings more selectively, now that I know my favorites!
