Trip Report: SFO-IAD-FRA-VLC part I
On my return to Spain, my journey started out in the United Club, once again with the upgraded food. I had some oatmeal and tried the pound cake which was surprisingly dry. I missed the eggs, which I guess they bring out only during certain breakfast hours.
First course on the SFO-IAD flight was a big fruit platter.
There were three choices for main course - scrambled eggs, french toast, or cereal. This was a 3-class Boeing 777, so this is definitely an upgrade: previously there was no meal choice in business class on 3-class aircraft.
"Scrambled eggs" turned out to be a cylinder of what could be called egg souffle. Quite nice and light. The cylinder of eggs matched well with the disk of spinach and triangle of potato-broccoli gratin
In IAD, I ran over to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge to ask for a seat change. I was assigned a middle seat on my FRA-VLC flight which I could not change online nor get United to change. Thankfully, the lounge attendant made a call to someone and I got an aisle.
Since I was already there, I stopped in for a light meal. Senator Lounge food will continue to surpass United Club food (except at LHR, that is)! There was a curried chicken salad sandwich, "tandoori" salmon wrap, a delicious eggplant parmesan, green beans, broccoli, and chocolate cake.
