Lodging Review: Hotel Mignon in Sorrento, Italy
After an early morning start and a full day touring Herculaneum and Pompeii, I was ready to check into a hotel! For Sorrento, I chose Hotel Mignon, just $63 for a single room and breakfast, which I paid with 4,247 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
Unlike the "single room" at the Hotel Il Convento which turned out to be much more comfy than expected, my single at Hotel Mignon was pretty much in line with expectations. Rather bare bones.
While it was nice and toasty, I did notice the lack of furniture, especially missing a night stand and electrical outlet next to the bed to charge my phone.
...and the bathroom perfectly functional.
The next morning I discovered that I had a charming view of citrus trees from my little balcony.
A cool vine with berries, growing next to my balcony?
The common areas, like the breakfast room, are much nicer. There was a blue theme running throughout the hotel.
The breakfast didn't have as many choices as Hotel Il Convento, but everything was of a very high quality.
There was fresh fruit, coffee made to order, some nice breads, cold cuts, and cheese, and a couple cakes.
I quite enjoyed the chopped tomatoes so went for some more, along with more fruit and a muffin.
They even had an outdoor space, which I'm sure would be pleasant in another season when it's not cold and rainy.
With a reasonable price and a nice breakfast, along with a central location in town - it's about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station along the main shopping drag - I'd certainly stay here again.
