Best of Munich Eats: Hofbrauhaus (touristic value)
Ahh, Hofbrauhaus. The most famous of them all. Although I probably wouldn't have known about it had there not been a Hofbrauhaus in Covington, Kentucky, touted as the "first Hofbrauhaus outside of Munich"! Now I can say I've been to both parent and expat child Hofbrauhauses.
There was a very large gift shop with its own dedicated room, as well as a gift shop kiosk right next to where we sat for dinner. They even had live music. But actually it isn't just tourists who come here; there were locals here too, even dressed in traditional lederhosen.
The food was mediocre however. The schweinshaxe had a texture as if it was preserved or brined too long, and the potato dumplings were rubbery and tasteless.
