I decided to splurge at Brasil a Gosto, a restaurant off of a residential side street in the Jardins Paulista neighborhood, and highly recommended by folks on Chowhound and Lonely Planet. I guess it's sort of a "new Brazilian" restaurant...
One thing that I love about Sao Paulo is the sheer amount of art and design exhibits throughout the city...
In my two weeks in Brazil, I have to say that the food I've tried is generally over-salted, oily, and without nuance (if savory), or too sweet (if a dessert)...the big exception being the natural fruit juices which I love. Not to say that eating here isn't fun, courtesy of the snack foods that are in abundance...
I really don't think I've seen a country that loves its ice cream this much! Every where I turn, someone's eating an ice cream cone, soft serve, or milk shake...
Lonely Planet, tourist brochures,...everyone says that the Japanese food in Sao Paulo is really good. It would make sense, because Sao Paulo has the largest population of Japanese people outside of Japan...
I like Sao Paulo a lot so far. Maybe because people told me that I would hate Sampa, and so I like it to be contrarian...
My RTW trip will probably be somewhat rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches as far as my accommodation and activities...
